Approves Creation of Health and Human Services Department
Consolidation Expected to Result in Cost Savings, and Improved Efficiency and Customer Experience
MONO COUNTY, Calif. (AUGUST 14, 2023) – On Tuesday, August 8th
, the Mono County
Board of Supervisors took action to consolidate the Public Health and Social Services
Departments into the Mono County Health and Human Services (HHS) Department. The newly
created HHS Department will oversee the Divisions of Public Health and Social Services.
The HHS Department provides support services for the health, safety, and security of
Mono County residents through a variety of programs, including:
• Child and Adult Services
• Office of the Public Guardian, Public Administrator
• Senior Services
• Housing Assistance
• Eligibility and Employment Services
• Environmental Health
• Public Health
• Fiscal Services, Administration, Sheltering
The consolidation results in a greater opportunity for improved service delivery and cost
sharing between the Social Services and Public Health Divisions.
