Bishop, CA—It’s official! The City of Bishop’s Adult Softball league closed out the season in fine order, and congratulations to the Thirsty Pitches Team, sponsored by White Mountain Concrete, as they become the Co-Ed Softball Champions for 2024. Congratulations to the Dirty Mike and the Boys Team, as they take the award for the Men’s League Champions.
“We had a few teams this year,” says Danice Balint, scorekeeper / league organizer for the 2024 league year. Balint adds, there were many more teams this year, and five men’s teams. She explains, there is an Adult A Team Division, with more experience on the field, and an Adult B Division Team, starting out in the league. Play begins about mid-March, and Balint notes, the Adult Sports work with the City of Bishop’s Parks and Recreation Department to coordinate all of the games, in particular, Dan McElroy works with the organizations.
Umpires, the officials who watch the games closely to make sure everyone is following the rules, or if things come up on the field, are very important to all of the games, and Balint’s husband, Brad Balint, is just one of many umpires making this happen. Brad’s been umpiring for 40 years (including softball and basketball), Danice adds, and she’s been scorekeeping (trained) for six years.
¡Enhorabuena!
