“A date which will live in infamy”

Eastern California—Christmas is 13 days away, and counting…. Finding the last minute gifts is always a challenge, but you can be sure of discovering many items locally, by shopping in our small towns. Everything you need for happy holiyays is available within a short distance, and watch for Santa Claus while you’re at it.
Do you remember your first bike for Christmas? Do you recall the first memories of decorating a pine Christmas tree? The smell, feel, and sight of a wood stove / fireplace crackling fire? Can you mentally go there, and smile? That’s a great day to be alive. Happy Holiyays!
My First Bike for Christmas
Aerohead Cycles: Rolling along for 20 years, putting smiles on all ages, all the time. Great place to find your first bike. It’s a cornerstone Bishop’s downtown / crossroads. Happy Holiyays.

Mules for Christmas
The 56th Mule Days Celebration is coming next year, May 20-25, 2025, and it’s a long-standing tradition in Bishop, CA, known as the “Mule Capital of the World.” Mule Days runs on volunteers, communities, visitors, residents, kids, and the heritage skills of our back country pack stations. Without the mules, there are no Mule Days, concerts, traditional, time-honored packing outfits, or young people wanting to live, learn and love mules like we do. Mules for Christmas, it’s a braying thing around here. Photo McGee Pack Station proudly lite up the Christmas Parade (Saturday, December 7, Pearl Harbor Day) with festive Christmas trees, as the 10-12 pack mules weaved down Main Street.
Smokin’ Hot BBQ in the High Sierra for Christmas
You can smell it for miles around Big Pine, CA. The sweet smell of hard wood barbecues smoking the way through hundreds of pounds of beef, pork, and chicken. Copper Top BBQ is the spot, south of Bishop, CA, to find the crowds waiting (quick turnover rate from order to pickup) patiently in line for top-shelf barbecue flavors. Pick up on their motto: “Food Makes Friends.” You’re likely to see folks from other states there, and owner, Matthew Kerley-Otten, has been cranking it out for more than 11 years.
