Eastern Sierra, CA—Small businesses are the backbone of America, our nation’s economy. Small businesses account for forty percent of America’s gross domestic output (GDP). There are 33.2 million small businesses in America, a whopping 99 percent of all businesses in our nation, according to the US Chamber of Commerce.

Thanksgiving starts locally, with shopping / holiday demonstrations / events. Small Business Saturday, November 30, is another way to keep our local businesses in mind, during the holidays. The American Express company founded the Small Business Saturday, 2010, and it generates about $17 billion annually.

“Thanksgrilling” and Shopping Local

And, kicking off the holiday, seasoned-well-done “Thanksgrilling” celebration, was Ace High Country Lumber’s (HCL) annual event (November 23, 2024). It was the perfect kind of late fall weather for an outdoor turkeys’ barbecue. Dawson Bricks, staff at HCL, manned the Traeger barbecue, and the entire process, brining, hardwood blend woods, and directions are a part of a kit, from Traeger, designed for turkey. Maple and hickory woods could be smelled in the air, and also on the very tender, juicy sliced turkey (four turkeys) served up over the early afternoon event. Followed up with a slice of pumpkin pie, it was a “grilling success” to start Ace High Country Lumber’s holiyays season.
